Today the internet was a bloody battlefield.
Amarican anti-spamcompany Spamhaus was under enormous attack by Dutch Hostingcompany Cyberbunker (which got it's name from it's location: an old NATO-bunker).
Experts described it as the biggest cyberattack ever!
Cyberbunker is a hostingprovider which has a lot of clients. Some of those clients are known for sending spam. Spamhaus decided to blacklist and block all of Cyberbunkers clients.
Cyberbunker in it's turn called it's clients together for a chat-debate. Together they managed to send so much data (a DDoS-attack) to Spamhaus and some internetservers that Spamhaus was unreachable and the total American-web was affected by it.
Even internetservices like Netflix were unavailable for a short period.
Some internet-engineers were even worried for a while that mail-servers and online-bankingservices would become unreachable.
More info here (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/03/27/daily-report-dispute-on-spam-stirs-big-assault-on-the-internet/).
So what do you think of this debacle? Are you pro-law (Spamhaus) or pro-freedom (Cyberbunker)?
