Just got laid off from a refinery job after 10 years. Was a welding inspector, luckily I saved some money but my point is I have a lot of time on my hands and have been on the internet more. Been a self described socialist for about 15 years and am looking for a "safer" place to rationally discuss economics/politics. Have been on youtube for the last two weeks and it's almost driven me to abject misanthropy. Not a healthy place for discussion. Anyhow, hello.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Sorry to hear about your job loss. I hope you'll get another one soon enough. And yes, Youtube attracts the filth of the Earth for some reason.

Ya, why don't my posts show up? I guess I also tried to post a link in a thread concerning race realism but I couldn't do so. It's a journal that took on the silly notion that IQ is genetic. Anyway, thanks in advance.

When your postcount is under the ten posts, all posts are moderated. This is to deter trolls and spambots. All posts in the non-political sections aren't counted towards your postcount (the indicator in the upper right of your posts), so posts outside these non-political forums to get to the ten :)

As for links, I believe that barrier is still a bit higher: You need at least 25 posts for posting those.

Turnarounds working 18 hour days for 2 months at a time. Ya, I have have more time now ;). Like time to eat, sleep and socialize. Should be back to work in a month or two. It's the nature of what I do. Doubletime and per diem added up so dont feel bad for me. Feel bad for the workers who have to struggle on minimum wage jobs where a temporary or permenant lay off means homelessness and destitution. I'll be OK. Thank you though.
