Hi, my name is Richard and I'm an anarchist that's new to RevLeft. I was socialist since I was 12. it was mostly because of my parent's upbringing, so I never got to learn on my own. Right now, I'm just an anarchist looking to learn. :D
Welcome :)

Chaos? I hope you don't hold the anarchy=chaos position.
Lol, no, it's just a tongue in cheek term used to refute the idea that Chaos-Anarchy. It also reflects my writings and how I used them to represent unorthodox and ways in my writings.

Also see the forums Anarchism groep here (http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?groupid=2).
We're happy to answer any question you might have.
Good luck!

the whole "anarchy equals chaos" line of thinking is an interesting concept. no, anarchism is not a support for a lawless mad max-style apocalypse of human conflict, but in a more academic way, it is a support of true chaos. chaos is not total disorder, it's a system in its natural state, one that is allowed to form its own patterns, trends and tendencies rather than be pushed into patterns by an outside force. weather is a good example of a chaotic system: from a primitive standpoint, it appears random; one day it will rain, the next it might not. for most of human history, our understanding of that system was rudimentary at best: we could tell which seasons it was going to be cold rather than hot, and when it was more likely to rain or snow, but beyond that it was still just a violent playground for the angry gods. fast forward to the twentieth century: with more sophisticated investigational equipment and methods, the once seemingly-random cacophony of atmospheric conditions becomes a well-organised system of currents, fronts and gulf streams which can, to a large degree, be understood by first understanding the factors (oceanic currents, geological forces, lunar cycles and many more) that affect it. through more careful observation, we've made sense out of something we saw as ultimate disorder.
a world existing in a true anarchistic mode would be much the same. to an outside observer, it would appear to be random and disorganised, with no encompassing goal or uniting factor. it would only be through more in-depth study that the naturalised order would make sense: a cooperative here would produce something that another cooperative many miles away would be sorely hurting without. natural resources are by no means homogeneous on the planet, so any natural structure that would seek to optimise their use for the global gain would appear random until you seek out the underlying causes of why people would congregate in certain areas. once you were to study the soil, the composition of the underlying bedrock, the rainfall patterns and climates that would make one resource more plentiful somewhere than another, you'd begin to see that what looked like a disorganised smattering of collectives is actually an interconnected network of people and groups optimising the resources that the greater whole needs to sustain human life and growth.
in short, anarchism IS chaos, but chaos is not disorder. it's simply an order we don't yet understand.
