Hello everyone. I joined this site just the other day, so forgive me if I sound a bit 'awkward'.
I'm a young leftist who is currently in the process of studying Marxism (at least to the best of my abilities), which involves me taking a ton of notes as I tend to forget things easily. I probably wouldn't be able to tell you anything very 'in-depth' for the time being, but I'll get there eventually. Anyway, I look forward to being here!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Welcome! You joined the right side. Or should I say left? Pardon me and my corny jokes, please.

I actually do have one question concerning this site, I suppose.

My question is: In order to insert a tendency to my information, is it better that I first become a member of that specific group before doing so? Do people tend to get offended if someone (specifically a newb, like myself) just adds a tendency without being a member of the group?

No, you can make yourself whatever tendency. don't worry about being a member of the group.

I don't think this is true.

I think, in order to set your tendency, you have to join a group. It's not a matter of being polite, the board software has an option for group members to set that group as their tendency. That's part of the group functions, not part of your user functions. So in short the 'tendency' option is only only to members of a group, for totally technical reasons.

I can't see why you'd want to claim to be part of a tendency but not join the group, however.

I meant that you can identify as a tendency, without joining the group. Although having "tendency:" in your user stats, yes you have to join the group.

Oh, sure, anyone can call themselves anything (though why one would want to without also wanting to engage with others in the tendency group, as I've said, makes little sense). But I don't think that's what the OP meant.

No way! If anyone got offended by something like that then they'd be a right prick!

Welcome to the website. Don't be intimidated or afraid to ask questions!
