Hi

I got the message that I will get deleted soon,if I won´t post soon, so...

I´m a long time leftist, but just recently got myself up from the couch and really try and get together with like minded people, and maybe actually do something useful.

Still trying to get a coherent picture of this nice forum.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What are your political ideas, if anything more specific than "leftist"?

Also, the non-political subforums do not count toward your postcount. Please post elsewhere to increase it.

Nice to see that you're posting, beardie! As you can see, I've been here for quite a few years now, myself, and regardless of what people will tell you about internet forums this place really had quite an impact on my development.

Q, I happen to know this user, but I'll let him explain his views himself. ;)1

Welcome!

This forum has helped me grow in some ways ideologically. It can be a helpful place so use that to your advantage.

My views are pretty much the result of my life experiences, that I´ve found fit the socialist theory (I guess I mean Marxist here) pretty damn well. So I think you could say I´m more practical than theoretical, which is not to say I´m not trying to do my reading as well... I´m very interested in the psychological aspects of politics; I see understanding those as the key to a succesful revolution, on any level. In all the shortcomings of socialist revolutions of the past I think the reason for eventual failure has been in human psychology.

Ecological questions are a priority as well, the planet is not going to make it through this century without major upheavals on all possible fronts of human existence. There must be a better alternative on offer once capitalism falls down.

And I´m against the separation of the left, there must be ways to work together on a much broader front. I guess that´s psychological as well. If we have one man parties who can´t stand a hundred other one man parties, how can we speak of things like democracy, solidarity, social- ism?

For me socialism, in a broad sense, is the same as being morally "good" or "right". If I find attitudes in myself that seem to contradict with socialist ideals, I always find that it´s because there´s some subjective flaw in my own thinking, which needs to be corrected. Other political currents are more about justifying morally wrong actions to yourself in the disguise of reason.
