Greetings all. I am privileged to be part of a forum dedicated to the ideals of left wing politics - be it socialism, communism, anarchism etc. The left wing ideology is but the only path to an equal, just world. Having studied in detail the history of the Russian Revolution and the Spanish Civil War, I can only admire the socialist way of life. I am however aware of some leaders that have damaged the title of 'Socialism'. I am also a proud Irish nationalist. I feel my nationalism only intensifies my socialist aspirations, and does not contradict them. As James Connolly declared by taking part in the 1916 rising, socialism and nationalism indeed compliment each other!

I look forward to discussing and debating many contentious issues on this forum.
Go raibh maith agat a chairde. :)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Let's just say that I disagree (http://www.revleft.com/vb/blog.php?b=18836) ;)

Welcome!:):hammersickle:

About nationalism, I think it depends what you mean by it. "Nationalism" in the sense that you want your country to be independent and free of foreign imperialism, then it's fine. But if you mean (which I doubt you do) that you feel your nationality and your people are superior to others, then of course it contradicts communism.

Thanks! And you are 100% correct. I yearn for the re-unification of Ireland, but in no sense do I adhere to the right wing nationalist policies of superiority and even racism. Irish nationalism is unique.

Welcome.

As others have said it really depends which kind of nationalism you support, but it seems you already clarified and that is fine. Thanks.
