I have been following this forum for some time ago but only now decided to join in. I consider myself a Leninist since I agree with most of Lenin's theory although I am not completely uncritical of Lenin. I see Russia from 1917 to Lenin's final years as a DOTP adapted to Russia material conditions and Stalin's ruling as a return of autocracy this time painted as red. I am also highly critical of Trotsky and reject his notions such as the militarization of labor.

I hope to give good contributions.

Welcome, comrade.

I think all of us Trotskyists are; being a Trotskyist does not mean blindly accepting everything L. D. Trotsky wrote, just as being a Marxist-Leninist does not mean blindly accepting everything Stalin or Mao did. Neither permanent revolution nor socialism in one country can be reduced to being "for" Trotsky as a historical figure, or Stalin.

I see your point but there are certain notions and themes that you cannot dissociate from its main precursor. You hardly can be a ML if you don't believe in SIOC or Trotskyist in case of Permanent Revolution just to pick the examples that you gave.

Welcome!

So just a regular old Leninist, eh? Interesting. I've seen a few around.

Tell that to the Shachtmanites, heh. But yes, I never meant to imply that someone could be a Trotskyist if they do not think permanent revolution is a good theory - it's just that a positive assessment of Trotsky as a person is not really a requirement, and support for everything that Trotsky advocated would be blatantly contradictory.

So, you would consider yourself a Leninist in the broad sense? What do you think about the issues that have divided Leninism - permanent revolution, socialism in one country, non-antagonistic classes, class blocks, the people's war etc.?
