What were his ideals? I know he was a French revolutionary in the 1790s and that he was called a communist and anarchist, but I don't know what did he do to deserve such epithets.
And if anybody knows any good books or articles on the internet (or IRL) about him, it would be rude not to share them :)
Thank you in advance

some texts from him. well babeuf is more often called the first revolutonary communist, he wanted a complete equal society that is moneyless. if you can get it ilja ehrenburgs "the conspiracy of the equals" is a great histoical novel that is very acurate to what happend. v.m. dalin also wrote about babeuf in books like the "babeuf studys"(i have it in german so i dont know if its out in english). and albert soboul did write about him in some of his books i guess.

Bakunin wrote about him, although I can't remember in which piece of writing it was...
In any case, it was definitely somewhere in "The Basic Bakunin", ed. by Richard Cutler
