Israel has launched two Palestinians-only bus lines in the occupied West Bank, a step an Israeli rights group described as racist and which the Transport Ministry called an improvement in service.

The left-wing Haaretz daily reported that the ministry opened the lines on Monday, to be used by Palestinian labourers travelling between the West Bank and Israel, after Jewish settlers complained that Palestinians on mixed buses were a security risk.

"Creating separate bus lines for Israeli Jews and Palestinians is a revolting plan," Jessica Montell, director of the B'Tselem rights group, said on Army Radio. "This is simply racism. Such a plan cannot be justified with claims of security needs or overcrowding."

The Transport Ministry said the two new lines would "improve public transport services for Palestinian workers entering Israel" and replace pirate buses charging them "exorbitant prices".

"The Ministry of Transport has not issued any instruction or prohibition that prevents Palestinian workers from travelling on public transport in Israel nor in Judea and Samaria," it said, referring to the West Bank.
"Furthermore, the Ministry of Transport is not authorised to prevent any passenger from using public transport services."

You couldn't make this shit up. There's a lot of talk about Israel being an apartheid state and I think this just proves it.

Ah, more segregation. Disgusting.

I think that this is more of a fault of the racist customers than the service, really.

Creeping Apartheid.

Oooooh, segregated buses. Nice one, Zionist friends. The Americans got rid of those just like 50 years ago right? Zionists are too cool for the mainstream, I suppose.

That would be funny if it wasn't true.

I remember reading somewhere that they're for Palestinians because they service Palestinian towns which I doubt many Jews would be going to. However, the source I read that from looked like a zionist one so it could likely just be another excuse to justify Israel's disgusting nazi-esque policies.

Of course the USA will continue to support Israel.

Nothing which comes out of Israel surprises me anymore.

Naturally the zionist site won't mention the things mentioned here:

While Israel allows Palestinians with work permits to use its public transportation, activists have in recent months reported incidents in which Palestinians were not allowed to board buses or were forced off by police once those buses reached the West Bank from central Israel.
Karin Lindner, an activist with the Israeli rights group Machsom Watch, which tracks violations against Palestinians in West Bank checkpoints, said Palestinian labourers forced off Israeli buses then have to walk some 2.5 kilometres to fetch their documents at a checkpoint near Israel's West Bank separation barrier.

I was surprised when I heard about some Israeli Jews trying to stop the deconstruction of Palestinian homes, and attempting to reconstruct the ones that were demolished.

That there exist any anti‐racists in what is quite possibly the most racist country in the world gives me hope for the future.

That's why we oppose Zionism and not Judaism per se.

Hipster status. Obama should send them some sunglasses and clove ciggaretes with his next shipment of cluster bombs and hellfire missiles.

so from what I can gather about this, they are palestinian only because they are only going to take routes that go through palestinian populations, and there isn't actually a ban on israelis getting on the buses (they are just very unlikely to). does this mean that palestinians have been banned from the other bus routes?

I thought the same too, but like I said the only place I've seen that reported was from what looked to be a zionist source so I'm not sure. Until I see it from objective sources though I'm just going to take it with a grain of salt.

In the same way the despicable attitude shown towards Ehtiopian Jews by certain Israel's and coercing of some to take birth control they either did not understand or did not want is akin to Action T4 in Germany, never let the actual facts get in the way of a good story about Israel (and of course, those zionists int he press obscure our understanding of facts :roll eyes: )

That said, this is something to be condemned it seems. But its not "Nazi-esque" as one poster hyperbolically put it.
