...yeah sorry for kinda ruining it, but I'm a cityboy through and through, and - much to some of my more green-fingered friends' dismay - I don't really understand the countryside at all. I mean if I look at it I just think to myself 'meh, a tree, a stream, big whoop,' I can't really appreciate the beauty of the scenery or whatever I'm supposed to do. I prefer urban landscapes, there's something about the lines, the angles, the textures and the architectural stamp of humanity, the feeling of habitation...yeah, cities are far more aesthetically resonant to me...

I'm with hatzel 100% on this one. Countryside just feels so.. desolate. Isolated. Lonely. The city is bustling with life and humanity.

The Kurdish region is so much greener than most people think it is. I love the mix of barren mountains and lush forests.

I traveled all around the south when I was a kid and saw some really pretty countryside as a result, but none of that impressed me as much as the view of New York City from atop the Empire State Building.

US Highway 101 South from Garberville, CA (around Humboldt county) the whole 101 is beautiful. ive only been through the part from around Ukiah, CA to Eureka, CA.

the video might be boring but its all i can find right now.

i have to tell you, going from I-5 North at 6AM when its dark and then going west on Hwy 20 when the sun starts coming up BEHIND you and it illuminates the coastal mountains. fucking BREATHTAKING. Like, i was listening to Tame Impala and the Machine for most of this ride. The point coming up into the hills it was "Moons of Neptune" by The Machine.

There were points where you would round a corner and have a magnificent view of a valley and other hills with the sun just starting to come over the hills and tree tops and black clouds randomly popping between hill peaks and clouds/fog hanging to the sides of trees and protruding from the hillside like pillow balconies. all with an almost literal silver lining on the top from the moisture and the sun coming above the trees and peaks. i mean fuck dude.

going through lucerne along clearlake (which is STUNNING) its like a little lake town and theres probably a reason why its called 'little switzerland'.

then on the hwy going up to garberville it started becoming patchy cloudy and potentially rainy and i had to stop for gas.

exited at some random hole-in-a-tree (see what i did there) gas station that was basically a drive through the forest around some hills on some back road until you get to some moist-smelling (in the good way, like, fresh) gas pump that is basically form the 50s where you have to get rung up at the non-computer machine.

guy told me there might be some blasting on the highway to prep for the rainy season (rock and mudslides) and i only had a few hours to get past before it gets closed off (sure as shit they were prepping, made it in time though)

but seriously, tall trees, crazy cliffs, windy mountain road. it was the best part of my trip... the drive! (and it was a pretty good trip). pls its over 100 miles of basically nothing. :crying:

shucks yall, i think i need to go again. maybe up to crescent city.

i think i fell in love with the PNW, at least the most southern part.

This one is part of the same highway but up in Washington State
