Well I finished studying a real subject and I thought I'd try to read up on my Juche a wee bit before I go to bed. Luckly for me those fine fellows at the Korean Friendship Association of America put together this study guide. So, since we are all aware that North Korea exists, let's try to understand the theoretical underpinnings that guide their policy decisions. I'll post my impressions here.

From Comrade Kim Jong Il's "The Fundamental Question of Philosophy Newly Clarified by the Juche Idea"

"The basic question of philosophy from the early period of the development of the philosophical world outlook and the question was scientifically answered by the Marxist materialistic dialectical world outlook."

Next, From Comrade Kim Jong Ill's "The World Is Dominated and Transformed By Man"

“That the world is dominated and reshaped by man is a new viewpoint on the world in relation to man.”

So Juche is a materialist outlook that proposes that human consciousness is the basis of the world's relation to man?

Do these people know what materialism even means?

I've got to say, these North Koreans must be doing some hard ass "dialectics". I ought to get me some next time I'm in Pyongyang.....

Do these people know what materialism even means?

It was conferred to them by the sparrows that bowed to Dear Leader Kim Il-Sung upon his death. Also, the sun's glorious shine allowed by Kim Jong-Il's smile made it so difficult to read that any works pertaining to Marxism, unfortunately, couldn't help but be avoided.

On a strange coincidence I actually recently browsed their site... fancy outline but not a lot of activity. Their store segment was nothing but a bunch of cafepress crap (I always go to a leftist group's store so as to see where their products come from); undoubtedly made in China, unlikely made in North Korea. I took a look at their study guide section and bookmarked it for later in-depth review. Their forum was nearly deserted. I am sure such a place only exists for the most dedicated bare-bones organizers. Some of their resources weren't operational, however, this I mean that their biography of Kim Il Sung ("With the Century") was not there in its entirety. Over all just another propaganda organ. Regardless if one wanted to learn about Juche than I figure that would be the place to go.
