Personally, I would just ignore it unless there was something potentially useful in arguing. If a bunch of liberal students are arguing back, maybe see what they are saying, figure out if you could find a "3rd angle" to approach their comments from in order to show some of the clarity of an anti-capitalist critique compared to their likely superficial Republican-bashing and Obama-defending.

So if others started countering saying, "Oh well X Republican is a total racist" you could maybe broaden the scope and talk about how an induvidual conservative (or liberal for that matter) can consider themselves not to be racist, but still support structures of systematic racism in our society.

But if you argue, IMO, don't do it just because this person annoys you, do it for the students who may be sick of this person's shit too and try and draw them closer to your politics by showing how radical ideas are actually a strong counter to this compared to the equivocating of offical liberalism.

Say something along the lines of "helping the needy" just makes them his dependents and perpetuates the condition of being "needy"; you want to abolish what in society makes some men "needy" and others not
