This question just popped into my head a few moments ago, and if there is already a topic like this, I would like to appologize before hand.

In a NEW New World Order, under Communism, what is to become of the Calander? Would the Gregorian Calander (a relic of the Catholic Church) still be in place? Or would a whole new Calander be designed? Or would a Calander even exist?

It depends how you mean calendar. If you simply mean the Gregorian sytem of months and days I would keep it simply because to change it would be change for the sake of change alone, it works fine after all. I can't see it's connotations with the catholic church converting people to that religion.

If you mean calendar as in dates of festivals or holidays (e.g good Friday, Easter Sunday) then those days would certainly be changed to remove their Christian slant, if not got rid of. In any case surely we can't get rid of Christmas?

I doubt they'll replace the calander, i dont think people think of it as catholic or even religious.

As lenin24 said, easter and stuff would go, id imagaine christmas would go as well, it was originally about "christs" birth, now its a big event for the capitalists.

I don't think christmas would need to go necessarily, only to change. It wasn't originally about Christ, it was around before as a pagan festival, its OK as long as the Religious and commercial aspects are removed.

Which aspects would be left?

I would imagine the giving of gifts would definatly go, both capitalist and religious, the name would have to go, perhaps the date, it was christs birthday afterall.

How/Why did the pagans celabrate it?

Which aspects would be left? Hmmmm if it wasn't removed it could still be a festival where the family come together and have a decent meal etc. It wouldn't be much like it is today.

The date December 25th probably wasn't thought to be Christs birthday, though as you point out that is what it has come to symbolise. I think over time the date wouldn't have too greater a significance, people won't be thinking 'hey wasn't jesus born on this day?' 'Gee yeah...lets's be Christians!'

As far as I know Pagans celebrated it by eating copious amounts of their stored food (a rarity since winter deprived them of their usual diet). I'm not sure the significance to them but then again Pagans had a lot of festivals for some pretty dull reasons.

One thing that might change is the name CHRISTmas which seems to have blatant religious impications.

But who knows? You may be right, perhaps it would be easier to do away with it.

This has come up before,

The current calender (12 months with a leap day sometimes) is good and works. 12 divides into 4 (we have 4 seasons). While 8 months might work, it might also be to much trouble.

Getting rid of festivals and holidays that are not relevent to the 'new order' would probably happen.

Another thing that should happen is that the week should be 8 days, 4 days on 4 days off.
