View Full Version : Spreading the movement!

I was born in Britain, and only because I am an ethnic Russian do I know anything about Communism or Marxism. I never heard anything about any kind of far-left parties until I started searching on the internet and I live around people that are completely politically uneducated or brainwashed, and will simply vote either Labour our Conservative depending on their background and class. I feel Communist/Socialist parties in Western countries either are poorly known, or they are simply social democratic parties with a 'marxist-leninist' or 'communist' title simply to appeal to voters who side with the ideology. It's as if the whole idea of political 'parties' is flawed, since none of them stick to their ideologies and simply adopt labels and policies in order to appeal to a social group that will guarantee them the vote. A perfect example of this is the Moldovan party of Communists. They have had the majority vote in Moldova for quite a while and have made no political or economic reforms whatsoever - and simply rely on the population's devotion to Communism in order to secure a vote.

So, to spread a Marxist movement - I believe instead of forming a 'party' with the various limitations parliamentary democracy holds (opposition from ideological enemies such as conservaties and liberals) a worker's organisation must be formed. This 'organisation' must have a governing policy of direct democracy by members that has a safeguarding 'constitution' that only allows the organisation to make decisions that are not in direct contrast with Marxism. The whole idea is that a group of activists will spread propaganda in the form of flyers, posters, graffiti and public speech and encourage the working class to join the organisation and learn about socialism, and see what it can do for them (improved living/working conditions, employment, greater abundance of socialized public services) and what it can do for their community. This organisation must act as a kind of charity - helping the hungry, forming militias to act as policen areas where policing is either bad or scarce in order to cut down on crime such as robbery in areas affected in order to improve public relations.

Once the organisation has established a firm base of support in the area, the next phase is to seize property and to put such property in to social ownership. Say at a said workplace, over half of the workers have joined the organisation. The workers will be instructed and trained by the organisation to lead a small revolution in the workplace and hand control over to the organisation. Then - in order to keep support from workers the organisation must reform the management structure and replace all non-mandatory hierarchy with democratic management methods and worker-friendly policies so that people at the workplace can see direct results, are happier then they were before and will gain support for the organisation and in general, Communism.

So for example, say out of 60, 41 teachers in a secondary school are part of one of these 'labour organisations'. At the right time (preferably as soon as a majority is gained) the teachers force the headmaster and senior management to step down and take a normal teaching position, and hand over the school to the organisation. The organisation will replace all major decisions made by the former headmaster by making mandatory staff attendances to a worker's council where teachers vote on policies they would like to see implemented - and as well as this students will be given limited democracy in order to make sure that teachers can not impose harsh or counterproductive rules. Since schools are strategically very important in the making of workers and generally education of the population - the curriculum will be changed in order to teach pupils about Communism and to eradicate the reactionary propaganda students are fed in order to scare them away from it.

This is the next phase. Once in a certain area the vast majority of workplaces (90+ %) are controlled by the organisation, it must begin to form a much larger militia. This is because once enough workplaces are controlled - the area will be seized by the organisation and a local government - independent from the state will be formed. The economy in this area will be run by the organisation through democratic planning in conjunction with goals that must be achieved for the area, something similar to Stalin's '5 year plans'. Once the area is seized, the population will greatly benefit from more control over their workplaces and their area, the unemployed that are able to work will be employed since the organisation can simply allocate work by building new workplaces and sending the unemployed to work there(factories, farms and what have you), and provided your militia is well trained and equipped - crime would be better policed and cut down on(we have barely any cops in some of the most dodgy parts of britain).

The final phase is simply to expand this labour organisation in to more areas and strategically seize more and more territory - until an entire country is under the organisation's control. By then - you have achieved a socialist revolution.

I think you are right about the problems but not about the solution. It is not true that all parties that describe themselves as communist are actually social democrats, but most are; they are opportunists and revisionists. I am also in Britain and I recommend you research and possibly join the CPGBML, an ACTUAL communist party.

Forming different kinds of organisations will not work when the correct method was also in operation for a time in the USSR and in other countries such as Cuba, for a while in China and in the DPRK.

Most of the things you described, such as workplaces being the main organisational hubs of society, were in place in those societies, in socialism.

Hello there!

I'm also from Britain here. Overall a brilliant idea, just something you didn't go into was who was (and where) would you target the working classes? Britain doesn't have an economy centred around agriculture, so the industrial proletariat for us would be in places like car factories. So, I'd urge for you to spread your leaflets and propaganda things there first.
