View Full Version : Activist dudes: own your shit before it lands you in jail

Once again sexism (http://ideologicallyimpure.wordpress.com/2013/02/17/activist-dudes-own-your-shit-before-it-lands-you-in-jail/)proves to be the best aide for police informants in left milieus. Then again this is hardly new (http://inciteblog.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/why-misogynists-make-great-informants-how-gender-violence-on-the-left-enables-state-violence-in-radical-movements/).
Thoughts?

In this case it doesn't sound like the informant was a provocateur (unlike Brandon Darby), it sounds like he was just involved in survelliance for the cops.
Although who knows, if he had people's trust then maybe he could've suggested something illegal and people would've thought about doing it.
It really is amazing how easy it is to destabilize left-wing groups.

I really like the word "dudebro", I wish it weren't used to describe dudes who are ignorant of their own privilege.

For me the term evokes an image the young fraternity guy who focuses on traditional male 'toughness' while objectifying women. Me being almost forty years old haven't had many run ins with that specific type of person (fraternity member) but I think the use of the term is to imply leftist circles are infested with such types. The "Brocialism"and "manarchist" terms I've been hearing a lot of lately.

Sadly, a lot of leftist men talk a good game about being anti-sexist. but that's all it is, talk.

In my admittedly limited and anecdotal experience, sexism does seem to be pretty rampant among some anarchist dudes. I've known some who will go on a radical feminist tangent and then will brag about the girl they "porked" at some party last weekend just a few minutes later. (the reason I specify anarchists is only because I've never known any Marxists or Leninists IRL). It's like doublethink. why does this happen?

to be fair, a LOT of the women i've been friends with over the years are WAY more blast-your-face-off when describing "last night" than any guy i've ever known. i've never seen a problem with it, or thought it was demeaning (from either gender) unless said in a way that was patently and intentionally disrespectful of the other party.
that's one facet of the gender revolution i'm sick of: the attitude of "don't EVER have sex, or if you do, don't EVER talk about it." most humans are both sexual creatures and social creatures, and unless either the sexing or the talking is done disrespectfully, i don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with it.

Exactly what conclusion are we supposed to draw from this blog post? Specifically, is the author attributing an element of Gilchrist's longevity to sexism, or all of it?

I was specifically talking about those who talk about it in a disrespectful manner, sorry I didn't clarify.
