I saw this term in the Political Profile II (http://www.revleft.com/vb/political-profile-ii-t170300/index.html) thread and I don't know what it is and I was wondering what your opinions on it are.

Focoism is the theory first proposed by Che Guevara on the type of guerrilla warfare he though could be most successful. For more info I'd read this:

One part substitutionalism, one part stalinism, three parts romanticism. Mix well and bake under the third world sun.

Check the guevaraist group. If you want it from the horse's mouth (or pigs, I think that reference will go unnoticed) then you can easily find guerrilla warfare by Ernesto Guevara

This doesn't explain anything (the premise of the Learning subforum) and this borders flaming. Please don't do that.

From my limited research in Latin American history, I understand that Focos were the Guevara style paramilitary troops that were basically the precursor to more modern urban guerrilla warfare. What this means practically is that the Focos were larger groups of troops, and generally more visible.
