DYK. That during stalins regin over the soviet union there were tons of pics, paintings, and sculptures....but as many famous leaders today he made him self look way younger, here are some details! When he was old and had spots on his face, whenever there was pic Of him with these spots he would immedlty give orders to erase them! He believed a lot in look and how the people look at you. He was also afraid of his double chin there is no way he would allow his citizen to see his chin or skin ....so he was actually a pretty big obsession on how he looked!!!! P.s i don't support Stalin

Why the Stalin hate?

Because only a Cromwell is fit to lead the masses, of course...

I just think that Stalin naturally wanted to hide his pockmarks.

If this is true (and not just another petty slander) how is it any different from the public image of contemporary celebrities? How is this any different from when public photos of modern celebrities are edited in order to make them "look their best"? Those portraits had a P.R. function. They were supposed to present the public image of Stalin, not show him "warts and all".

To be fair if I was a powerful leader I wouldn't want my facial scar shown in public portrayals.

It would contribute greatly to charisma, though.

Responding to Red Godfather, I feel sorry for anyone whose sister is like Stalin.

Recently, I found out that the unspeakable Stalin is exactly my height. (When I was younger, I was taller; I lost some altitude by growing older, which annoys me royally.) I wonder if being short affected Stalin's attitude in some way. Or maybe he was just crazy. One of Stalin's executioners, the former pharmacist Yezhov, was quite short, IIRC.

Guaranteed they're all taller than me though. That's another thing I would kind of be embarrassed about as a leader, being short.

Well, it's not just my sister. It's pretty much everyone in the modern world and, while I never thought I would say it, I feel sorry for anyone who has never seen, used, or known someone to have used, photo editing software/websites because I assume that said person would live a very isolated existence.
