I have been a atheist for years, I believe in atheism because god(s) never came to me and spoke, also god only separates people from happiness, poor to rich, slaves to kings. I believe that atheism can unite people and make a better tomorrow for humanity!!!

-does this make me a Humanist

Also I heard it is a cult???
...is this true

Thanks!

I think your trolling, but I will answer. Humanists are atheists. Humans believe in ethical lives and support the greater good without superstition and faith.

BTW: I am a VP of a local Humanist club.

It's up to you. If your an atheist who believes in working for the common good without using superstition and faith. You can call yourself an Humanist if you like.

Humanist and Atheist are not mutually exclusive - one can be, and humanists often are, both. Atheist is just a title for one who does not believe in a God, it does not imply anything about one's personality. There are no degrees of 'Atheist', as Atheist is an absolute, but I will agree that there are 'types', in that some are more militant and anti-theist than others.

Humanism is not a cult, nor is it one group or belief - it is a group of beliefs under one umbrella term. If you're interested in learning more, there is plenty of impartial information out there on the net - google away!
