As tempting as it is to use the Comintern's definition of Fascism--simply a puppet of monopoly capital--the facts paint a slightly different picture. The Nazis, especially, slipped in through a period-specific "crack" in the political landscape involving ineffective and rigidly opposed parliments, dislocation caused by rapid industrialization, and a bizarre vision of a pre-industrialist, agrarian, and homogeneous folk society. To be sure, the business interests supported the other, less radical capitalist parties over the Nazis and only gave them support when it became profitable to do so.
I would elaborate more on this but I don't have my Comparative Politics reader with me here at home!
