human strike

Freedom Bookshop in Whitehall, London was firebombed in the early hours of this morning:
"@Freedom_Paper: BREAKING: Freedom was firebombed last night. No-one hurt, upstairs is okay but shop and electrics have been seriously damaged."
No doubt there will be a collection since they're uninsured so anything you can send there way I'm sure will be gladly received. Check their twitter for updates: https://twitter.com/Freedom_Paper
Greatest of solidarity from myself with all those who are involved with Freedom.

Horrible think to 'thank' this post - obviously, 'thanks' for posting the news, rather than 'thankfully Freedom has been firebombed'.

I saw that in the feed too. It is a shame that it happened but for some reason I doubt that the culprits will be found.

Anybody thinks someone paid some people to bomb the bookshop?

Anybody thinks someone paid some people to bomb the bookshop?
More likely it was some EDL splinter group or some other far-right/fascist outfit.

wish i was in london tomorrow. i sound horribly selfish saying it, but i'm heading back to london next weekend and i was hoping to pick up some stuff there. guess that won't be happening now.
solidarity of course, i may donate some money and i encourage others who can to do so too.

Did everyone at libcom think this was a fascist attack rather than some kids looking to have some fun and start talking about non sexist community defence patrols :D
In all seriousness though that sucks. will donate if link is provided.
PS. Is choccy still on that site? Wonder what his picks are tonight. I have Edgar and Reem both winning.

Fuck that's terrible, I've been there many times, especially for their A.S.S.
What bastards would do this? I wish I could help but I'm broke.

According to a Vice article I read about this, there has been a lot of support offered in the aftermath, so that's good. I guess something like 100 people showed up to help in the cleanup effort?
If they had some sort of system to accept donations like a wepay account or something, I'd probably donate something.

They'll get the shop running again I'm sure, but it's another blow to the whole project. 6 months ago they were talking about ceasing production of 'Freedom' (first published 1888) because they were out of money after a photo-journalist threatened them with a court case over the publication of some photographs. It does seem they're lurching from crisis-point to crisis-point.
I may not agree with everything the Freedom Collective does or stands for but I really believe their continued existence is a positive thing for the working class.
