On January 24, two teenagers (aged 16 and 19) were involved in a chase-off with members of the police’s DIAS (motorcycle) unit. The police claim that the boys tried to avoid a police inspection. In the chase-off, the police approached the motorcycle that the boys were riding and, according to the only eye-witness of the event, kicked their motorbike toward the cliff at the side of the road. As a result, both teenagers are in intensive care, struggling for their lives.
The following day, the two police of the DIAS unit appeared before the local interrogator in Heraklion, who released them on a bail of 2,000 euros and an country exit ban.
