A year ago, I was going batshit crazy in a jail cell, having been arrested for daring to defy my landlord's property rights. I was at that time wondering whether my interest in Marxism and the Left in general had driven me crazy.

I'm here to tell you today, that it had not. I am bipolar, and that is all. In the year since, this in no way diminished my fascination or sympathy with the Left as the only force that keeps human progress moving toward the final state of history where nobody hurts or exploits anyone and everybody works together in order to come to the true completion of human experience.

Now that I have allowed myself to join RevLeft, the first thing I have to say is that I knew from day one that I had discovered an incredible resource for learning. And learning is exactly what I intend to do here. Just today I began watching David Harvey's lectures on reading Capital. After that, I don't know. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

The second thing I want to say is that I was a conservative Republican in high school and my early college days. Then I became a liberal Democrat in the middle of college and after I dropped out. Then in 2011 I read "The Manifesto of the Communist Party" for the first time because right-wing talk radio kept telling me I was a socialist for being a liberal Democrat. I decided to find out for myself. And I discovered that I was indeed a socialist and no longer a liberal Democrat. If only more people had the same inquisitiveness.

But I digress. The final thing I want to say is thank you. Thank you for starting this forum, for I believe it can be a force for good in this world. And thank you for dealing with the many questions I am sure to have as I further explore the philosophy of the Left. I currently consider myself a general socialist. But given my history of drifting leftward, I fully expect to become a Buddhist anarcho-pacifist by the end of my inquiries. I have a lot of experience with Buddhist philosophy and practice. Practicing Buddhist meditation got me through jail quite nicely.

Finally let me note that my username is a reference to my favorite non-philosophical, non-musical hobby and you get bonus points for identifying it :)

Good to be here, thanks for having me!

You get the bonus points for correct and complete identification. Congratulations!

I'm actually considering giving up the hobby completely. It's quite capitalistic if you think about, but so much damned fun.

Welcome to the forum, I'm certainly with you that it's a great place for learning, and if not that at the very least some good leftie drama.

You got to the thread first, drat. Though I'm more partial to BUG decks myself but too cheap to buy my own cards, always had to borrow friends' stuff.

My roomate was blue/white control and the few times that I played I found that fun. I didn't like green tbh and red was okay. Blue/black was fun as well.

o well this is ok I guess

Why does everyone hate people with infect decks?

So are lots of games. I roleplay heaps in Skyrim (and other TES games), and its virtually impossible to enjoy the game fully while playing as a communist. I mean, getting into a character that yells "For the glory of the Empire!", or "Skyrim for the Nords!" isn't overly leftist, but I still do it because its fun.

Regardless, G'day and welcome!

Because infect breaks the game, especially if you're not playing standard. Infect in commander is stupid, you only need to do 1/4 of the damage otherwise (1/2 in standard).
