I'm actually not really a leftist, I think of myself more as a decentralizationist, and I think anything between Anarcho-Communism and Anarcho-Capitalism is worth a shot. Just as long as there's no over-arching government for "the man" to wiggle his way into and use to enslave everyone, that's what I'm really worried about. I find myself particularly liking Syndicalism and Mutualism with a preference for the latter.

Anyways, I've become interested in learning more about leftist ideologies, which is why I'm here. With this whole gun control debate going on, I thought "I wonder where real leftists stand on that?" and came on over to find out. (fyi I support gun ownership as a decentralization of power and a safeguard against tyranny. I definitely do not believe in a monopoly of force). I'm not really so much interested in arguing my own points of view which in many cases are centrist or even right but I guess I might drop something in opposing views once in a while. Like I said I'm interested in learning about leftism, particularly the anarchist brands of it.

So, hi :cursing:

Hello, welcome to RevLeft.

I think most of the Anarchists here will give you a hard time here, arguing that Anarchism is a school of socialism that developed in the European workers' movement from the 1840s. Furthermore, as capitalism is an economic sytem based on classes, it includes illegitimate hierarchies as part of its structure, so 'anarcho-capitalism' is an oxymoron. It is capitalism that is slavery - the state is just an expression of the existing power-structure not the cause.

But apart from that... have fun and get involved in some debates, is my advice.
