Golden Dawn Gets EU Human Rights Seat

The wife of Greeces neo-Nazi Golden Dawn leader has been allowed to join the Council of Europe, a human rights organization, despite her denunciation of immigrants as subhuman and as the party is being blamed for rising incidents of assaults on immigrants.
Over strong opposition, Eleni Zaroulia, was given the go-ahead to participate in the councils proceedings in Strasbourg, France. Greeces PASOK and Democratic Left parties, as well as several rights groups had expressed objections to the membership of Zaroulia, wife of Golden Dawn chief Nikos Michaloliakos.
The Council stated that her objection to immigrants does not imply it agrees with her stance even though the body is charged with a broad human rights charter. The committee also OKd the participation of Tamas Gaudi from Hungarys far-right Jobbik party.
The parliamentary assembly of the council had considered a ban on the two if they were found to be affiliated with parties that are neo-Nazi, racist and anti-Semitic, euractiv.com reported. Although critics say they are, the Council set aside the protests.
The challenge was introduced on procedural grounds by Italian MP Fiamma Nirenstein, who said that the values of these parties were in conflict with the Council of Europes ideals and principles. Both challenges were supported by at least 10 members of the assembly present in the chamber, belonging to at least five different national delegations.
Ms. Zaroulia has said in her countrys Parliament that the immigrants were sub-humans who invaded her homeland and spread diseases, Nirenstein was quoted as saying. Mr. Gaudi Nagy has told his Parliament that there was a list of Jews representing a threat to national security, and who were exploiting the Holocaust to dominate the world.
In a letter addressed to Greek Parliamentary Speaker Evangelos Meimarakis, two PASOK MPs and one from the Democratic Left said that Zaroulias participation on the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, has generated a barrage of strong reactions from European politicians and intellectuals, as well as from human rights organizations that deem Golden Dawn an overtly racist and neo-Nazi organization.
The letter went on to say the participation of a political party/organization that violates with its actions and with acts of violence the rights of local and foreign residents of this country is contradictory and tragically ironic.
The legal challenge, meanwhile, was opposed by Jean-Claude Mignon of Frances conservative European Peoples Party (EPP,) one of the most dominant in the European Parliament, who said that the pair had been elected following what has been considered democratic elections. It is not the job of the Assembly to tell the Hungarians or the Greeks You voted correctly, or You didnt vote correctly, he was quoted as saying.

I have no comments. Just sharing. :cursing:

WHAT THE FUCK. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS. FUCK THE EU. HOW DOES THIS BULLSHIT CONTINUE!? HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT SEE THE UTTER SHALLOW BASE OF THEIR APOLOGIST GOVERNMENTS!? A COMMUNIST PARTY IS CONSIDERED 'TERRORIST', BUT A FUCKING OPENLY FASCIST, WHITE SUPREMACIST AND NEO-NAZI GROUP IS NOT ONLY ACCEPTED BUT ENTERED INTO A HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP!? I am so fucking pissed off right now, oh god. Will this shit never end? This needs to be shared around.

They never fucking learn, do they? The last time fascists were welcomed with open arms like this in Europe, it wasn't long before there was a fascist empire responsible for world war and genocide against various scapegoats.

Play with rabid dogs and you'll get bitten. But this simple concept seems to escape the Eurocrats. I thought they were supposed to be educated in things like history and whatnot?

I think that Golden Dawn is trying to make fascism appear friendly again. The capitalist class in Europe of course has no quarrel with this. The more Golden Dawns in European nations, the less they have to worry about us pesky revolutionaries. Giving them a Human Rights seat says "Hey everyone, the fascists care about rights. They want to help the people of Europe."

The inclusion of the Hungarian "Jobbik" Party is equally absurd. They are neo-Nazis, plain and simple. There is a human rights crisis in Hungary right now because of their collaboration with paramilitary groups terrorizing Roma communities, as well as their fueling of racism with propaganda scapegoating "gypsy criminality." What a wonderfully treacherous way for Europe to cap off the so-called "Decade of Roma Inclusion," including in a supposed council for human rights a party whose leaders propose deporting families to "public order protection camps."

I'll add my indignation with an extra dose of 'fuck you' to the naive / corrupt Euro Council fools that are allowing these individuals to hold any position that has even the most tenuous connection the idea of human rights
It's an extra insult to those whose rights their Parties have befowled and trampled on.

Well I'm not mad to EU just the people that fucking voted for GD. Before the economic crisis people would spit when they were saying nazis. They hated everything about them and now all of the sudden they vote and fight for them... Just ridiculous, idiotic, closed-minded with memory problems fucks that have surrendered to their animalistic insticts

Fascism is capitalism in decay.

If that's the case, then it's been decaying since the 1930s, if not longer.

Quite a few would actually agree with that.

I would not want to draw a line somewhere and say that is the exact time capitalism went into decay but i would guess its closer to our modern times then to the 1920's.

Fascism is capitalism in decay.

The rise of Jobbik in 2006 preceded the economic crisis. The rise of Turkey's neo-fascist MHP (more popular than Golden Dawn as well as more violent) did not occur against a background of economic crisis either.

:P

Europe is very much indeed fucked. It is only a matter of time before fascism becomes an acceptable position for one to hold. When that happens, we all know who they come after. (The left)

Does this mean we'll see another Nazi Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Franco's Spain in Europe again as in Fascism is on the rise?

Of course like I suggested before we need a Fascist clock which estimates/guesstimates how close a society is towards Fascism.

The scariest part about this is that there's no one to fight the fascists this time.

I know some will argue that the Soviet Union downright helped the spread of fascism, but even if we ignore their role in history, most countries still had radical leftist parties with membership in the thousands. There was a chance to fight back, but today there's nothing like that. I can't even imagine something like the International Brigades popping up at this point.

I can only hope things will change.

The Obama administrations resort to unlimited quantitative easing and its aggressive pivot to Asia to contain China have encouraged Abe to fire his own shot in the developing international currency wars, as well as to remilitarise Japan. After a decade of US-led neo-colonial wars in the Middle East and an emerging scramble for Africa, the Japanese ruling class is drawing the conclusion that a strong military is necessary to prosecute their economic and strategic interests.

This slide towards an even more devastating global war is being accompanied by the whipping up of poisonous nationalism in every country. The only social force that can prevent war is the international working class through a unified struggle to abolish the profit system and its division of the globe into rival nation states, and establish a worldwide planned socialist economy to meet the social needs of humanity as a whole.

This party has the potential to be a very dangerous example to all like-minded groups in europe. Far right people are idiots! what's the point of fearing blacks? fear globalization, I say.:glare:

Okay, so to start you should brainstorm and make a sketch of what you're thinking of. It can be rudimentary -- just make sure to include all concepts and labels that you think are pertinent.

You can either scan the sketch or just take a photo of it with a digital camera. You can provide it here as a .jpg attachment to a post.
