It's not the reassuring crackle or the sentimentality, for me a good bit of wax that's been properly cut is vastly superior in sound quality to your cd's and digital media... It has an organic warm sound whereas digital media always has an inherent tinny, top end sound... dj'ing wise the vinyl will always be king for it's pliability and basic physicality...
But what do you use? And what do you play it on?

I use CDs, CDs have the best sound quality. The sound quality is better than vinyl, however there is something about vinyl that gives it a more 'real' feeling. I don't use MP3 at all because the sound quality is far inferior, and the sound quality on Minidiscs is slightly worse too.

Rubbish.
There is no audible difference between mp3s and CDAs, and with vynil you get the lovely scratchy sound and if the needle is really sensitive you get to hear the rumble of the turntable. More 'real' indeed. <_<
It's because ppl play mp3s on shitty little speakers that the quality is percieved as 'lower'.
I tend to use CDs, but I'm trying to find a CD player that plays mp3s.

It depends on the mastering, I've got cd's that sound awful compared to a proper piece of wax.. Vinyl though does diminish in quality through repeated use.. For a rounded bass heavy sound though you can't beat it, I also prefer analogue devices in the studio but for recording only DAT will do... Minidiscs are ok but really they're just a replacement for cassettes...

mp3s are goood. first of all they are tiny. a 4min song is like 2mb with 96k/s which is still high quality.. you really can't here the diffrence. you can fit about 160-190 songs on a normal cd.
NoXion you can get cheap ones.. like 40$ in any computer/electronics store.. (if you are talking about diskman type cdplayers)

I use mp3's and CD's, i'll either download an album and record it onto CD or buy a CD and record it onto my computer.
CD's are better quality then vinyl, or at least they are capable of better quality, MP3's are capable of better quality than CD's it just depends what quality they're recorded at and most of them are recorded from CD so they aren't usually any better.
I use Kazaa Lite, it's kazaa but without the spyware and ad ware and all the other crap.

yeah, I use MP3 CD's as well. You can hold so many songs, like almost 200 songs on one CD depending on the size/quality of the mp3.
Minidiscs are cool, they only hold about 50-60 songs, but are much smaller and about the same in quality. I really think if you're going for size, go for a Minidisc or MP3 Player, they're probably the smallest in size verses everything else.

I listen to CD, not MP3s, real CDs played on a CD player hooked up to an awesome amp, which is hooked up to a huge subwoofer, a central speaker, and four more speakers mounted around my room. I'm not kidding about the amp, either. It's the cleanest sound I have ever heard. I think my parents payed over a grand for it about 5 years ago. They never used it, so I brought it into my room. Good stuff.

I listen to CDs and MP3s. For travel, I have a mini-disc player, I can fit over a hundred songs on one disc and they're tiny (practically mini...)

I wish I had my reggae collection on vinyl.
I use CDs and MP3s and I also have a minidisc player.
Minidiscs are fantastic, you can fit five hours of audio onto one disc with the LP4 function. However I'm considering not using that function anymore because there is a drop in quality, the lower frequencys are not as prominent, which is pretty shit when it comes to reggae.
For recordings in a studio I definitely prefer analogue tape, although I think part of that is the fact that recordings nowadays that use digital are attempting to make it sound as "digital" as possible.
