Only by sheer luck, the 29-year-old Dustin Theoharis from Auburn survived after being shot 16 times by two police officers who burst into his apartment without a warrant, looking for his arrested roommates gun.

Theoharis was crudely woken by two armed uniformed men who rushed into his room and started yelling out orders at him. He reacted in a way most people would, instinctively reaching for the flashlight by the bed. Detective Aaron Thompson and Corrections Officer Kris Rongen immediately responded by shooting the man 16 times.

Detective Benjamin Wheeler, one of four other officers present at the scene, came into the bedroom to find Theoharis in a pool of his blood and two baffled cops still in the state of shock. Luckily the man was rushed to the hospital fast enough for doctors to save his life.

Thompson and Rongen tried to justify their action by claiming that Theoharis reached for the gun, but no weapon was found in his room. The main reason this police action was organized was Theoharis roommate Nicholas Harrison, an ex-convict, failing to report for community supervision. Harrison was arrested before the raid and the police searched his place for weapons so they could charge him with parole violation.

The King County Prosecutor dropped all charges against the two officers, justifying the brutal shooting as a proper response to a perceived risk to their safety.

Just sick. Not only do the pigs shoot an unarmed civilian 16 times, but they lie about him reaching for a weapon too, and they still get off!

I've heard a lot more instances like this recently, I remember hearing on the radio about a week ago that these cops raided some persons apartment and shot them dead, only to find out later that they had the wrong apartment. There was another thread on here about an unarmed guy in a pick up truck getting a clip unloaded on him by a cop a while ago too. It's ridiculous, I mean how many people have to get murdered before a cop goes to jail for their crimes?

Didn't they think to just knock on the fucking front door?

Maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't have to treat every fucking civilian apartment like a fucking combat zone if they just fucking knocked like civilised human beings, rather than rushing in guns blazing like the gung-ho power-tripping macho fucking idiots that always seem to go for police work in the US.

Furthermore, the more these kind of stories get out, and the more "normal" this sort of situation becomes, then the more that people are going to associate "cops in house" with "getting shot for no good reason", and the more likely it is that shit like this will happen. How the fuck do they expect any level of basic trust or decency from civilians if they insist on treating them like fucking enemy combatants in the Middle East?

It's almost as if American cops are determined to undermine any trust the general public have in them.

I completely agree with what you're saying but I'm assuming they'd try to counter-argue that by saying if they were to knock it could potentially give alleged law breakers time to tamper, destroy, get rid of, etc. evidence or grab weapons or something of the sort and so on.

Absolutely no excuse, like, 16 times? Really? That's not "protecting your safety," that's being a shook rookie who doesn't know what the fuck they're doing. Even in a real situation where firing a gun at alleged law breakers could be justified, professional cops would only shoot once or twice in a non-vital just to neutralize the threat and detain the suspect. I would sue the fucking shit out of both the cops, the police station, the city, all of that; my lawyer would love me.

The fuck out of here with that bullshit.

This is honestly the most insane thing I ever heard of; I'm honestly speachless, I don't even know what to say other than my usual refrain when I read of the coppers bullshit: ACAB.

Cops get away with doing some fucked up shit all the time, it's truly sickening. There is absolutely no way it could be justifiable to shoot a man in bed, let alone sixteen fucking times.
