You can call me Emma, although that's not my real name. My name on here is just a reference to Emma Goldman--one of my biggest political heroes--and the anecdote about how she was reprimanded by an overly serious, male fellow revolutionary for enjoying dancing too much. I like to think I'm a little like that, except I enjoy EVERYTHING too much! Including discussing politics, which is why I signed up for this board.

I freely admit I'm more talk than action when it comes to politics. That's something I'm trying to change, but it's hard because I'm neurotic about many things and also lazy. Also, I've had trouble finding a political home for myself. I've found most leftist spaces are way too male-dominated for my tastes. And I've found most feminist spaces are far too accommodating of capitalism. I guess you could say "intersectional" politics are really important to me. I want to dismantle capitalism, the state, and patriarchy--as well as white supremacy, ableism, ageism, heterosexism, cissexism, and sizeism. I don't know if this is the sort of community where I will find a lot of like-minded people on this count, but frankly, I don't have many other ideas as to where to look right now.

A bit more about me. My favorite color is fuchsia pink, my favorite TV show is Star Trek (every series, every episode), and my favorite cocktail is the Sea Breeze (with grapefruit juice NOT pineapple juice--get it right, bartenders!) My favorite reactionary idiot is Glenn Beck, and I've logged far too many hours listening to his histrionic ramblings. My favorite time and place in history is the United States in the 21st century. I'm happy to be alive in this shitty society, and I hope to play some small role in transforming it into something more just and equitable.

That's all, folks! :)

Welcome to the board, you seem like a cool person! I hope you enjoy your stay and find the community you've been looking for. I know Quail loves star trek as well and has an Emma Goldman quote in her sig, so you should get along with her pretty well.

Hello, DancingEmma. Welcome to RevLeft, the hub of the internet's finest revolutionary women and men. There are a lot of informative and engaging discussions, hopefully some of which you can get into. Being new to a forum feels kind of intimidating sometimes, so don't be afraid to ask any of our posters if you have a general question or our mod/admin team if you have a specific concern.

Welcome, I am new here too. I like that you favorite right-wing clown is glen beck. I personally can't stand talk radio outside of this guy on Forum on my local NPR station. And he doesn't talk that much just lets his guests talk. Anyway, Glen "let build a communal oasis" Beck is kinda fun to listen to. He also suggested banning socio-economic class to his gate community commune for fundies.

I think this is quite healthy. Lots of the left doesn't see patriarchy as an important issue or just look at it "from the outside" so to speak. As if their little group is free of such influences. I guess this rings with your experiences of "male-dominated" groups on the left. It is indeed a real issue, as for example the SWP in the UK is showing now quite spectacularly.

Guess where my nick originated from? :D

That's all, folks! :)
