Hello comrade,

As one of the boards 'resident trots' I would first recommend you check out the Trotsky section on the Marxists internet archive

http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/index.htm

The Lessons of October (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1924/1924-les.htm)

The History of the Russian Revolution (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1930-hrr/index.htm)

My Life (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1930-lif/index.htm)

The Permanent Revolution & Results and Prospects (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1931-tpv/index.htm)

Their Morals and Ours (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1936/1936-mor.htm)

Revolution Betrayed (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/works/1936-rev/index.htm)

These are all fantastic works, and there are so many more in the archive. You may also be pleased to hear that In Defence Of Marxism (http://www.marxist.com) have launched a project along with Trotsky's grandson Esteban Volkov, to print the entire works of Leon Trotsky. See - Appeal for New Trotsky Project! (http://www.marxist.com/appeals/new_trotsky_project.html)

You can also find out alot about the great revolutionary at http://www.trotsky.net and there is an excelent Trotskyist discussion forum at YFIS (http://discussion.newyouth.com/)

Hope this helps :D

Also, here's a great biography of him that I've read:

Leon Trotsky by Robert D. Warth

It gives you a whole account of his life, as well as a very in depth view of the Russian revolution. I don't know if you can find it online, but definitely look for it in your library. It's a very great book.

"[We must condem those who]put the right of workers to elect their own representatives above the Party, thus challenging the right of the Party to affirm its dictatorship, even when the dictatorship comes into conflict with the passing moods of the workers democracy."

- L. Trotsky, Sochinenyia (Moscow 1925). p.89, p. 136.

yes revolution betrayed can be found in the 'fantasy' section of your local library :P.

Scottish_Militant

With the trotsky quote? No, I don't agree at all, although there are many who do I'm sure. I doubt there is anyone I would agree with 100% on everything, but that does not mean I dont respect them. I respect Trotsky for his building of the red army and his contribution to Marxist theory. I also admire his struggle against the degeneration, one that cost him his life.

Like what? Stalin had no major works, he was just a Leninist he made no real contribution to the ideology. To discount Stalin's thoughts are to discount lenins.

Anyway it was just a joke.

My theories? I have no theories and neither did Stalin therefore how would I post them?

Stalin only wrote a few pamphlets and maybe one book but they were all about the USSR and foreign policy, etc.

I've heard that as well - and that he worked as a movie extra and did 'other stuff' (if you get my drift) to fund his opiate habit.

Note how many of the Bush Neo-Cons are Trots.

Trotsky was just an insane aristocratic liberal, not a socialist at all.

Lynch,

I have stood in dog shits that do more for the socialist cause than you!

Have you ever actually made a political post on this entire forum? All I see is 'trot this' and 'trot that' and the old 'I heard that...' followed by some ice-pick gag that only a serial masterbating acne ridden little gnome like yourself would find funny.

If your looking for hobbies outwith shaking hands with the devil, try politics, one day you could maybe even study Marxism ;)

I wont hold my breath...

Trotsky was exiled from about everywhere he went, much like Karl Marx. It was true that he did go to America for awhile, but even Marx had quite a bit of association with America.

Stalinists, your quotes mean nothing. Politicians have a right to change their minds as often as they like, everything you quote from "evil" Trotsky is taken from his Bolshevik days.

Take this example, if you must believe and agree with everything Marx says to be a Marxist, it would make you a pretty awfull person. Not many people know, but if Marx was not allowed to change his mind, it would've made him a racist, an anti-semite, along with one of the biggest hypocrites of the 19th century. Why do we call ourselves Marxists? Because of his good ideas! Like Trotsky, he completely changed his mind about many things, we can't hold it against him.
