I am currently a student of social sciences and wanted to seek people opinions on my observations and my current thoughts the below comment
I believe that students on my course are people of a philanthropic nature i also believe that 90%of the student make up have an outlook on the world though experience and individual connection which empowers us to strive to make a positive contribution to people and their lives and community.
I believe that our motivation comes from individual experiences be it from being brought up in a community which instils these morals and obligations or and experienced shared from first hand experience of the difficulty and turmoil a community faces. But within learning in an academic environment which purposely institutionalises a concept such as peace you purposely look and understand peace in a way which is confined to books, presentations and lectures.

i believe that this institutionalisation of peace takes out that emotional and aesthetic connection that people have to the subject which first inspired them, which inevitably in time changes the way we interact with investigating such issues. For example if i want to show that one understands suffering of a person , a student would seek evidence , present that evidence in findings mainly though analysis of is characteristics and look at how they correlate to other slimier findings which in turn allow us to identify suffering.

But does this understanding hinder us to actually understanding what suffering is? As my understanding of suffering is just logistical and theoretical term though institutionalising experiences of other people though reports and presentations, just as we had with the concept of peace.

With this institutionalisation of a thought, dream and concept i believe that peace studies students institutionalise and condition themselves and look at a mr rajj a man enslaved by poverty ill heath in an Indian slum as a statistic and figure interpreted by a Doctor, professor or researcher in a lecture. My thought is weather this Institutionalisation of thought people and understanding could put students at risk of interpreting their emotions philanthropic experiences into facts and figures just like we did with the people who we are trying to help.

Would love to hear your thoughts

Kind regards
Matt

I don't really understand what you are getting at here. Try rephrasing it.
