How can I explain Dialectics (both Hegelian and Marxist) to people without knowledge about Philosophy and Politics, in a very simple manner that even a child would understand?

Well, I guess I would say that dialectics is the process of transformation over time. Everything can be explained as having developed from some prior stage or condition. I think the easiest example would be evolution. Human beings did not just appear one day; they developed over millions of years. Capitalism developed from feudalism, which developed out of slavery, then from patriarchy, then from clan and tribal society; at least in very broad, simple terms.

I think Einstein once said that if you could not explain something to a 10 yr. old, then you didn't understand it yourself.

I generally go with the thesis/anti-thesis/synthesis explanation although I realize that has its flaws. I don't understand dialectics all that great myself, however I've bought 'Dance of the Dialectic' so hopefully after finishing that I can gain a better understanding.

Why don't you try this site (http://home.igc.org/~venceremos/)?

I don't think you can as dialectics makes little to no sense at all.

"I fully abide by and attribute complete objectivity to the theory of dialectics, yet cannot explain it in the simplest manner."

Surely I am not the only one who is overwhelmed by the scent of dogmatism being displayed here? If you cannot explain dialectics to a comrade, surely you do not understand it yourself?

Dialectics is the unity of opposites.

Reality is composed of contradictions. It is the resolving of these contradictions that makes change happen. And every time a change occurs, new contradictions are created, which again bring about more change, etc.

from the looks of the video (i'm not listening to it) the teacher is not explaining how history developed in such a way to create the mess those kids are living in. race, class, economics, all combine and recombine to produce entire generations of useless commodity makers. they are taught to believe their condition is a natural result of their own laziness.

real dialectics should be taught. of course the teacher would be fired.

Do you really have to?

We have discussed dialectics a few times here; I think the explanations here (http://www.revleft.com/vb/materialist-dialectic-mysticism-t167627/index.html?p=2365974&highlight=dialectics#post2365974) (particularly from this post (http://www.revleft.com/vb/showpost.php?p=2365960&postcount=54) onwards) are not too complicated, nor too ignorant. If you feel they are too lacking, I can try to improve them somewhat.

But the most important thing is perhaps to counter the unilinear reasoning most people adhere to.

Then by the looks of it (I didn't even read the rest of your comment) it must be the most worthless post ever typed on revleft.
