Huh. So the universe isn't as homogeneous as previously thought.

This, along with stuff like dark flow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_flow), makes me seriously wonder about the larger-scale physical cosmology of the universe.

There's something utterly strange out there, I reckon.

The universe is so big. It seems impossible for the human mind to really comprehend how gigantic it is.

So glad I'm not a theoretical physicist right now. :lol: Hope this doesn't mean too many people having to begin from the drawing board.

So if I understand correctly, conventional theory held that we can always expect a degree of homogeneity at a large enough scale. But conversely, if it's all randomness, wouldn't that make a structure this size merely improbable, not impossible?
