I think he is absolutly brilliant.Plus he is the only musician that is very talented to hail from my hometown DC!(that i know of).I have his auto-biography "Music is my Mistress" but with all the other reading I have been doing lately I haven't got a chance to read it.Some of my favorite songs by him are "It don't mean a thing,if it aint got that swing","Take the A Train""I got it bad" "my lttle brown book" and "Ain't got nothing but the blues".

I'm more of a John Coltrane fan myself but the Duke was quite brilliant.

John Coltrane was jazz, my man, but both are quite excelent.
Duke Ellington is an extraordinary musician. "Take the A Train" is possibly my favourite blues song.

Um.
A Train is not a Blues.
And Duke was a Jazz composer.
The Blues is actually a set style or musical format, just like a Concerto or a Sonata.
A Train, by its very harmonic progressions, doesnt fit into this format, and hence is not a blues piece.
And Duke was a composer in the Swing/Mainstream Jazz Idiom, Coltrane was Bebop/Progressive. But its the same genre, just two different time periods...kind of like both Bach and Beethoven are in the "Classical" genre, but Bach was Baroque and Beethoven was Romantic.
Please, if you want to go around "correcting" people's musical statements, make sure your "corrections" are, in fact, correct.
