On the civil service tests for paramedics in my state they give you extra points for being a minority/veteran/woman. As someone who falls into a class that gets extra points, frankly I'm a little bit put off by it. I'm for affirmative action and I understand that extra points are a way to offset the disadvantages due to possible racism down the line during interviews, but I feel like theres a better way to go about it.
