Skrewdriver was originally an Avant-Garde Jazz well-known for their dedication to White Flour (The idealogy that only white baking flour should be used), Blood & Bonar (A skinhead music scene all connected through peculiar, especially blood & excrement-related fetishes) & RAC (the Breakdown Service company).
They formed in Poulton-le-Fylde, England in 1976 by Ian Stuart Donaldson who later died after finding out he could not drive. They became one of the first ever rock bands to publically admit peculiar fetishes they had, playing a leading role in the far right cocks against communism movement, a movement of Neo-Nazis who performed stripteases in an aim to raise awareness of the War Of Vietnam that had happened approximately 10 years earlier.
Ian Stuart Donaldson, formerly of the Village People, formed Skrewdriver as a dare. Skrewdriver at first had a punk appearance, but they changed their image into a shinhead look in 1977 trying to make their heads look like their shins however failing. They also temporarily had a rocker/biker look, around the time they released the EP Built Up Knocked Down. In 1978, Donaldson moved to Israel unaware of it’s Jewish roots, where he recruited cricketer Phil Tufnell and gardener Alan Titchmarsh. This lineup toured extensively performing stripteases, cricket tricks, discussing gardening & playing music but certain venues were reluctant to book the band because of their reputation for being a very, very bad act.
