From RT (http://rt.com/usa/news/fbi-assassination-ows-sniper-227/):

Only one month into the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations last year, plans were formulated to identify key figures in the movement and execute them with a coordinated assault using sniper rifles, new documents reveal.
The revelation discussed in a heavily redacted FBI memo unearthed late last month through a Freedom of Information Act request reveals that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was aware of plans for a violent assault on the peaceful protest movement but stayed silent on rumors of an assassination attempt only until now.
Information on the alleged plot to kill off protesters appears on page 61 of the trove of documents obtained recently by a FOIA request filed by the Partnership For Civil Justice Fund. On the page in question, marked SECRET, the FBI acknowledges:
An identified [redacted] of October planned to engage in sniper attacks against protesters in Houston, Texas, if deemed necessary. An identified [redacted] had received intelligence that indicated the protesters in New York and Seattle planned similar protests in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. [Redacted] planned to gather intelligence against the leaders of the protest groups and obtain photographs then formulate a plan to kill the leadership via suppressed sniper rifles.

Alarming but at the same time sadly unsurprising. It seems the Feds would rather nip something as relatively benign (compared to thriving 60's dissident movements) as the OWS movement right in the bud with a slew of murders than later deal with a mobilized contingent of rebellious citizens.

What's even more surprising is what a FOIA request will get you even today.

Any other sources to this? I'd like to post this but I know someone'd try to distract from it by questioning RussiaToday as a valid source.

Edit: I found the original documents they were referring to. These are the same ones that we got a few days ago about the FBI surveillance of Occupy groups, but focuses on a particular page of them. You can view that here, the quote is on page 61 as the article says.

Edit x2: I'm confused however- is the plot on this page something that the FBI was planning, or something that it was aware of by a third party? Frankly I'm surprised they'd put something like that in there if they were the ones planning it, as opposed to infiltration of OWS groups which are obviously much less insidious than open murder to the public.

My first impression was that it was something the FBI had planned, but after a reread of the article, I am quite certain the plot was by a third party (the redacted portions) and the FBI was simply aware of it.

Unfortunately the rest of the page is redacted so we won't even know what was going on with that little episode. Was it something they were tracking? Something that they received a tip on?

I wouldn't put it past them however if something was to occur to let it slide.

Ye someone debunked this on another thread somewhere around here. It refers to a white nationalist / far right plot to protect Murican freedoms, iirc.

Yeah the fraction we have in the FBI file is quite unclear, so drawing this conclusion is a bit of a stretch to say the least

Seriously, how can someone actually think some barely-known ( and until yesterday anonymous ) liberals ( whose movement dissolved after a few months anyway and which besides never was that dependent on "central figures" ) would actually be seen as targets for FBI assassinations. That's asinine.
