Well first I'd like to say hello to everybody. My name is Gareth and I'm from the Northeast of the United States. I would say that there are about an equal mix of left-wingers and right wingers where I live. In high school I was probably considered a right-wing libertarian socially liberal but fiscally conservative, however after I get a job with a private corporation my views changed after I saw how we were treated me and my fellow employees. After which my views deftly started change to the left especially after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by which point I was a solid Democrat. However after Obama failed to investigate banks after the whole Wall Street banking crisis of 2008 I became very disenfranchised towards Democrats and liberals in general and that's when I started take a serious look at Democratic Socialism. I would say that the three books that definitely pushed me that way would be John Nichols the s-word a history of socialism in the United States, guy standing's precariate the new dangerous class, an unfinished Revolution by Robin Blackburn, and Mike Davis in praise of barbarians. I'm saying that I in a democratic socialist however I do concede that I have quite a bit to learn in terms of what this board has to teach. I will say that while I strongly disagree with liberals and Democrats over Obama being a decent leader I would say that I would greatly dislike conservatives and Republicans and have an overwhelming hatred towards right-wing or vulgar libertarians and or and anarcocapitalists. The book that probably turn me against these groups would be Cory Robbins the reactionary mine from Edmund Burke to Sarah Palin. The premise of the book is that since the American Revolution the purpose of conservativism has been to maintain the status quo and to maintain inequality in the world and preventing groups who don't have equal rights from getting them such as conservatives fighting against abolitionism, women's rights, union rights and gay rights. So if anyone has any other questions I'd be glad to answer them and I greatly look forward to talking to all of you. Thank you for your time
