There’s a line in the bible that reads the 7 headed beast of Babylon must burn, I always thought they were referring to Rome because of its 7 hills and that line was preformed in 64 A.D when Rome burnt down. There’s also many other facts linking of Jews to the burning of Rome it was on this doco on history channel.

The legend of a group of welthy powerfull leaders secretly controlling information, economy and politics has been around under the auspices of the Illuminate for more than 300 years and while I think it quite likely that groups of wealthy powerfull elitists do have organizations disigned to coordinate preasure on these areas I don't think their influence is as all powerfull as is suggested by the legends.

He claims that throughout history, drawings have revealed pictures of lizards in priviledged positions and this is where the theory comes from.

In reality, the theory of the Illuminati is somewhat true, as there is really a group of people who control the world, big businesses, G8 etc etc and all the other capitalist conventions.

Thats quite a "thought provoking" site in the sense that how can anyone take that stuff seriously? How can anyone possibly believe such stories? The lizard idea has to be one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard in my life. I must applaud this David Icke character, I hope he keeps the conspiracy theories coming.

While David Icke is good for a laugh (and I will admit, he is one of the more amusing brands of conspiracy theory out there), there are more serious brands of the conspiracy theory.

Historically, the Bavarian Illuminati did in fact exist. It was a secret society founded by a Professor of Theology in Ingolstadt named Adam Weishaupt. Originally he had tried to gain the support of the Freemasons before founding his own society. As early as 1777 he tried to subvert the Masons, and the Illuminati was supressed by edict of the Bavarian government - the first actions taken against it were in 1784, the final outlawing under penalty of death in 1787.

There are in some sources a possible attempted revival of the order in Paris in the 1800s, which quickly fizzled out due to lack of support.

Modern conspiracy theory of the more sane sort usually has the Illuminati acting through "intermediaries" to control the world. Most often named as candidates are the Bilbergers in Europe, the Council on Foreign Relations in America, and the Trilateral Commission. That is assuming they find a way to survive to the present day.
