With all the renewed interest in the SPD, most of the talk focuses on Kautsky and his politics. Very little is discussed about one of the ideological cofounders of the SPD, Ferdinand Lassalle. I was wondering if anyone could point me to any resources (english or german) that discusses the role lassalleanism had in the formation and politics of the SPD. Also if there are any particular works that are good to read of his to get a good idea of his political positions (I ask because MIA only has 2 of his works and the german version has none).

Chapter 1 of Lih's book on WITBD has some commentary on Lassalle.

Classical bios on him are:

In short, there are criticisms to be made, but Lassallean agitation was the most effective form of left agitation historically.
