A cloud of poisonous smoke stretched 15 kilometres (over 9 miles) and lasted for ten straight days at one point. The toxic fumes choked and suffocated the thousands of people who were unfortunate enough to live in the area. Tons of poisonous chemicals leaked into the Danube river. All the fish in the river were killed.

On April 9th, American/NATO pilots bombed the Zastava automobile plant at Kragujevac, murdering all the workers inside in cold blood. Just as with Iraq, where American/British state terrorists singled out dams and water treatment plants, American/NATO war criminals selected targets intended to destroy the Yugoslavian economy and cause massive terror and suffering to the entire civilian population.&#39; -freespeech.org/americanstateterrorism

&#39;In Serbia and Montenegro there are 950 thousand refugees. Working as a psychiatrist in Belgrade, I encountered and helped women who may be classified into three groups: women who are direct victims of war; women from one of the war zones who were exposed to incessant fear, frustrations, and the expectation of some calamity; and women who lived outside of the war torn region, that is in the present Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, but who have experienced the horrors of war because of the grievous loss of family members, usually sons who had left for the front lines.

The Information Center of the Serbian Congress, a non-state apolitical association of independent scholars, writers, and other intellectuals from Belgrade has compiled a voluminous documentation about all forms of human rights violations, about the ethnic cleansing and other abuses of power against Serbian populations in Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina during the war years of 1991 to 1993. Part of this documentation concerns the problem of rape and sexual mistreatment of women belonging to the Serbian nationality. My own decision to study this problem is not motivated by a desire to counter the media campaign against the Serbs. The work I have undertaken in this respect, as well as the work done by my female and male colleagues, is to highlight the fact that the war has victimized women civilians who have not taken up arms. In this war the malignant thrust of Thanatos was aimed at them. Rape, sexual battering and torture, have nothing to do with Eros. These victims, which have been abandoned by the world community, cannot even count on basic health care services, which only augments their suffering.

The most extensive rapes and the most drastic forms of sexual victimization of Serbian women have taken place in Croatian concentration camps and places of temporary internment in Hercegovina and Northern Bosnia, as well as in camps run by Muslim authorities in Central Bosnia and the city of Sarajevo, especially in those camps which were visited by missions of the International Red Cross quite late or not at all. I have a map which reproduces information compiled so far about the sexual mistreatment of women in camps and other places where such events had an organized character. Internment camps vary as to the conditions of life and exposure to brutality, as well as by the number of women involved. This number ranges from a low of about 18% to a high of about 34%, which is in the percentage for the notorious camp Dretelj in Hercegovina.&#39;

Yugoslavia was targeted because it rejected the Structural Adujustment Plan demanded by the IMF that was part of its agreement to receive loans from the World Bank. Milosevic had for a long time stood for a united Yugoslavia and during the conflict gave orders to his army not to engage in persecution of Albanians and other ethnic groups. Certainly there was suffering for ethnic Albanians during the conflict. However, you cannot pin this down to actions sanctioned by the Yugoslav Army. Ethnic Albanians as well as Serbs opposed the war in Yugoslavia. Serbian Militias responsible for atrocities, however these were seemingly not related to the Yugoslav forces.

The U.S. and its allies spread many lies as to what was happening in the region, you never hear stories of the atrocities committed by the KLA, yet at the time there were many stories about the Yugoslav forces. Once the war was over it was evident that such atrocities did not exist, as is being shown today in Milosevic&#39;s trial.

You cannot believe the imperialists with what they say about Milosevic. The imperialists are the ones saying that Milosevic practiced this supposed ethnic cleansing of Yugoslavia, however they have little proof and have been shown to be liars on many other claims they made.

I have previously said I would not be certain with Milosevic is guilty of ethnic cleansing, perhaps he is, perhaps not. But certainly, I would not accuse him of it unless I was sure that he was guilty. I am sure that ethnic Albanians suffered, however I would not be certain of who is responsible. I am sure that everyone in that region suffered from the actions of NATO.

In addition, now the ethnic cleansing continues through the KLA who still operate to gain purely Albanian independence.

Especially since the opening entry involves nothing of Milosevic&#39;s Socialist Party of Serbia, but of Seselj&#39;s Serbian Radical Party. Slobodan Milosevic is an Atheist, as is his party. The Serbian Radical Party is a Chetnik party, that promotes Serbian nationalism as well as Serbian Orthodox Chauvinism, and the hatred of non-Serbs. Had Vojislav Seselj been president of Yugoslavia instead of Slobodan Milosevic it would have been obvious that Serbia would&#39;ve been no different than the Fascist leadership of Bosnia and Croatia after the break up of Yugoslavia. Remember the Chetniks led by Draza Mihajlovic also were Nazi collaborators, although originally they were anti-Fascist and did in fact collaborate with the Partisans of Josip Broz Tito. That really didn&#39;t last long because the Partisans were Communists, and the Chetniks were Monarchists. The Chetniks then became pro-Fascist. At the end of the war, Chetniks (just like Ustashas, and other collaborators in Yugoslavia) were hunted down by the Communists, and ultimately vanished after the hunt.

Slobodan Milosevic is not a Chetnik, he is a Socialist. As I stated in the other topic about him, he fought to preserve Socialism in Yugoslavia. And don&#39;t forget that Vojislav Seselj did label Slobodan Milosevic as the biggest traitor to Serbia in its history because he basically smashed all efforts to create a Greater Serbia.

slobo is the biggest war criminal in europe since hitler. i myself am a serb from bosnia. and i don&#39;t blame croats or muslims whose soldiers pressured me and my family to leave our homes, i blame slobo. in the late 80s/early 90s slobo introduced his nationalist ideas in serbia in an attempt to gain power and in doing so he took the steps which led to old tensions in yugoslavia being brought up again. this resulted in the people feeling that they did not belong to one group (as yugoslavs) but rather to their subdivisions (croat, serb, muslim). this tension eventually led to the outbreak of civil war in yugoslavia which resulted in 200,000 dead and 2,000,000 forced to leave their homes. all because slobo was a powerhungry piece of shit.

the rise of ultranationalism in serbia is showing that those poor people are trying to get themselves out of a hole by digging their way out.

i was there this summer and it was the biggest shithole, it looks like nato bombings were yesterday.

in communist yugoslavia things were good, but now with the country split apart with nationalists in power, everyone is poor and pissed.
