Hope he gets a good dose of hate mail and harrassment for this.
A UKIP candidate who called for an NHS review to look at compulsory abortion of foetuses with Down's syndrome or spina bifida has been suspended.
The party said Geoffrey Clark, who is standing for Kent County Council, would not be a UKIP councillor if elected.
Mr Clark said on his website he did not endorse the abortion idea but suggested it to cut the national debt.
Learning disability charity Mencap said it was disgusted and horrified at Mr Clark's personal manifesto.
UKIP said Thursday's ballot paper would still list him as its candidate but, pending an investigation, he would not be a UKIP councillor.
Chartered accountant Mr Clark, 66, who is also standing for Meopham North ward on Gravesham Borough Council in Thursday's by-election, says on his website his comments are personal and do not reflect UKIP policy.
He calls for a national debate and an urgent government review of the NHS, which he says "risks becoming unaffordable in the future".
The review should look at "compulsory abortion when the foetus is detected as having Down's, spina bifida or similar syndrome which, if it is born, could render the child a burden on the state as well as on the family".
He says the review should also look at medical treatment for those aged over 80, "which is disproportionately costly to the NHS" and might also include "legalising euthanasia and giving free euthanasia advice to all folk over 80".
He told the BBC: "I don't intend to offend.
"What I am trying to do is to provoke a debate in the nation because I am so disenchanted with our politicians."

A by-election candidate suspended by UKIP after a row over compulsory abortion has been beaten by the Tories.
Geoffrey Clark came second in elections held on Thursday for Gravesham Borough Council and Kent County Council (KCC).
Mr Clark called for an NHS review to look at compulsory abortion of foetuses with Down's syndrome or spina bifida.
The ballot papers still listed him as a UKIP candidate, but the party said on Tuesday that if elected he would not serve as a UKIP councillor.
Mr Clark called for a national debate and an urgent government review of the NHS, which he said "risks becoming unaffordable in the future".
He said the review should also look at medical treatment for those aged over 80, "which is disproportionately costly to the NHS" and might also include "legalising euthanasia and giving free euthanasia advice to all folk over 80".
Mr Clark did not attend the count for the seats made vacant by the death of Councillor Mike Snelling.
He came second to Conservatives Bryan Sweetland for KCC and Julia Burgoyne for Gravesham.
Results:
Gravesham Borough: Con 419; UKIP 204; Lab 108; Lib Dem 36.
KCC: Con 1780; UKIP 634; Lab 397; Lib Dem 91.

ukip are probably the strangest party in britain at the moment; mixture of very right-wing authoritarian old tories, middle-class "men's rights" atheist right-libertarian types (y'all know the sort), and sociological "white working class" who like their line on the eu / immigration.
odd.

Yes, of course, let's kill all the old people because they cost so much. What can go wrong with that?

Actually, if he proposed this from a eugenics point of view I would find it less offensive than npe from a economic/austerity one. At least eugenics have a twisted form of idealism...

^Does eugenics really apply? I mean, I've never heard of a person with down's syndrome reproducing, so the genetic composition of society isn't really harmed by giving birth to children with it. It would be eugenics if the mother was forcefully sterilized instead, no?

You're right, probably not
I mean, I've never heard of a person with down's syndrome reproducing, so the genetic composition of society isn't really harmed by giving birth to children with it.
That's because people with Down's syndrome will only produce children with Down's syndrome - I can't think of a time that a person with Down's had a child, so society's genetic composition isn't really impacted.
It would be eugenics if the mother was forcefully sterilized instead, no?
Again, you're probably right. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of eugenics at all, and any forced sterilization of any kind.

Im so conflicted about eugenics :/ i do support eugenics out of selfish reasons because e i have a genetic defect called ehlers danlos and im scared to have kids because they might get a worse version of the disease i have, i really want it to be cured and the only way to do that is genetic modification.

I thought eugenics was the racialist theory of 'breeding out the bad genes'?

Its terrible that there are certain individuals out there who would say, or even do such a thing.
I can only add that I often prefer the company of people with Down syndrome to a good two thirds of the 'regular' human brand. They're good people, with good hearts and to see individuals like mister Clark take such a political line pains me.

If this guy's twisted logic had been followed x number of years ago, my brother-in-law (and by default his twin, my sister-in-law) would have been aborted. They are good people , bro-in-law is a great guy who's had to overcome a lot of bullshit from other people growing up with spina bifida and has faced the prospect of losing his only source of income due to Cameron and Cos 'reform' of disability benefits.
This right-wing politicians with their shitty 'value for money' outlook on life make me fucking sick
