The adventures of Richard Engel
"Engel said the captors were trained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and allied with Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shia militant group (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/18/nbc-syria-journalist-kidnapping-escape)." Now how did Engel arrive at this conclusion? Let me guess: his captors told him the following: look. We were trained by Iran, which has a nuclear weapon aimed at the US, and that Hizbullah also trained us on kidnapping and we want you to tell the world through you that we also support the Cuban government and we were on the side of the USSR during the Cold War and we were with native Americans during the white settlement of the US, and we are aligned with the Italian mafia. So basically, instead of the confession being extracted from the hostages, Mr. Engel (with a long undistinguished career as a Middle East correspondent) was able to extract confessions from his captors who were mysteriously defeated by the heroic Free Syrian Army gang. Let me go on the record and state: this story is as believable to me as the story of Christopher Hitchens when he ran into Abu Nidal at a street cafe in Baghdad.

On the captors of Richard Engel: the plot thickens
So who kidnapped Mr. Richard Engel? A knowledgeable Western journalist sent me this:
"there is a Shiite village in Idlib called Fu'a, and every time a journalist gets kidnapped in Idlib at first the opposition activists blame Shiites or even Alawites (!) as happened three weeks ago with a different group. ِِِAnyway Fu'a is surrounded by armed opposition supporters, so its unlikely its men could just drive around as is described in the official account, and they would probably not say they were shiites let along brag about their alleged training (and there is no way they got revolutionary guard training)
then this video came (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eZhldIKf3bY) out:
and it has since been removed, what it showed is Engel and his team in a bare room saying who they are, on the walls in green spray paint are written fresh looking pro Assad graffiti like al Assad or we will burn the country, and something about dhulfiqar which is obviously Shiite
it seems very much like a setup, like the kidnappers wanted him to think he was taken by Shiites
and if he was taken by Shiites or regime loyalists he would not have been released so quickly so its a bullshit story
maybe A....
i think they took down the video because Engel is made to say something anti-American
PS here is the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0WEvPb47eA)"

PPS Now this is me, Angry Arab. I looked at the video and it is so clearly a set up and the slogans are so clearly fake and they intend to show that they were clearly Shi`ites and that they are savages. If this one is believable, I am posing as a dentist.

PPPS Of course, I am not saying that Engel was on this plot. I think that they were really kidnapped but that the kidnappers of the Free Syrian Army typically lied to them about their identity, which has happened before.

Richad Engel talks about his captivity in Arabic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=I9za0sd8WrI

You have to watch this interview in Arabic with Richard Engel. First, I am most impressed with Engel's Arabic. He is really fluent in Arabic and speaks it with a semi-Egyptian accent. I must state that I did not expect this and I don't recall knowing or meeting one US correspondent in the Middle East with such fluency. He did not get stuck on words in the entire video and uses the language with such facility. If all correspondents in the region know Arabic like Engel, US media coverage of the region would be much better. Not let us go to the substance:

So the interview was set up by the thugs of the Free Syrian Army as soon as Mr. Engel was released. I still maintain that this entire captivity was set up by FSA to paint themselves in good light and to stigmatize their sectarian enemies. Of course, Engel is a mere victim here, or he can be said to be a useful naive victim. But his political biases are clear in this interview. He refers to Free Syrian Army gangs as "our friends" and then talks glowingly about the gang that freed him: Ahrar Ash-Sham. Who are those folks? Well, read the latest report of the ICG to learn that they are basically Bin Ladenites. So the heroes of this fake release of the hostages are Bin Ladenites. How little US media notice what they are doing sometimes: sometimes they are just guilty and nefarious and sometimes they are just dumb and ignorant. And notice that Engel talks about how his captors moved them like twice a day: so those "Shi`ite" captors (there are no `Alawites in the area) are moving freely in a predominantly Sunni area in Idlib and have no fear about it. And then we are told: that the gang of Ahrar Ash-Sham had an ambush for the two guards and the hostages and was able to shoot them dead with two shots without even shooting the car. The two guards just slumped dead, according to Engel although he was blindfolded. This is one of many manufactured and fake operations produced by the fabricators of the Free Syrian Army and the US media is more than happy to parrot.

Who is Khaled Abu Saleh and what was he doing with Richard Engel?
Bernhard sent me this: "the night before he returned to Turkey Richard Engel was interviewed by
one Khaled Abu Saleh who is known to have produced many fake videos of Syrian government "atrocities" earlier this year. He seems to be involved with Avaaz.

Here is the interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9za0sd8WrI):
How come that Engels, at the evening of the day he is "freed", is interviewed by a person who is known to have produced fake "atrocities" for fake videos for western consumption?

Another Indication That Richard Engel's Kidnapping Story Stinks

Richard Envel's captors

So according to the story that is being circulated by Western media: Engel was kidnapped by Shabbihah, but his captors were not even `Alawites but Shi`ites. And those Shi`ites (unlike the sectarian gangs of the FSA who are at pains to disguise their sectarianism) while they were moving their hostages regularly, they insisted on shooting a video of their hostages with freshly painted Shi`ite sectarian slogans on the wall because they are at pains to showcase their sectarianism. Oh, and they were roaming freelly in the stronghold area of the Free Syrian Army right next to the Turkish border, where Engel and his crew were kidnapped. When I read this the story of Christopher Hitchens' encounter with Abu Nidal at a Baghdad cafe becomes more believable.

Follow-up on the Richard Engel's story
I received a message from a Western journalist in Syria. He tells me that the Free Syrian Army now admits that Mr. Engel was indeed kidnapped by a Sunni armed group but that the hostages were later sold to a Shi`ite armed group. I am not making this up. More on the story later.

So he was kidnapped by the FSA, who he likely supports, in an attempt to frame the loyalists? Sketch. The extreme of this could of been them executing him, and releasing a video.
