absolutely fucked up, this:

The turmoil was set off after an Instagram user asked for tips on "sluts" in Gothenburg, and promised anonymity to anyone sending in pictures. More than 200 pictures were submitted, giving names and alleged sexual activities of girls aged 13 to 14.

also, swedes are hard as fuck:

"The protesters are kicking down lampposts and jumping on cars," he told the paper.

"kicking down lampposts"

obviously it was caused by a serious issue, but it sounds like a great time was had by all.

how the fuck do you kick down a lamppost??

Seriously though, hardcore shit.

This might be a good opportunity to point out that this isn't exactly some isolated event with no framing radical movement to speak of; Göteborg's been getting pretty spicy over the course of the last couple of years, as our Swedish friends here will no doubt attest.

Hehehehe, it's pretty funny. The owner of the Instagram(I didn't even know what the hell an instagram is until today) account was taken in for questioning, a 17 year old girl.

The cops have horses and shit too.

The quality of reporting by The Local is terrible as is their translation. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they completely misunderstood the lampposts thing.

I wish American teens would throw riots when this shit happened. Someone gets date raped and nothing happens, let alone instagram gossip.

It's actually not that hard to kick down a lamp-post, if you kick in the right place. Usually this will be tipping it over, or dislodging the upper portion from the base which sits in the ground (depending on how many people you are.)

The Local is indeed a terrible right-wing shit-rag and anything they report should be treated with utmost scepticism.

Why can't America be that fucking cool?

Why can't America be that fucking cool?

Many years of brutal class warfare has taken its toll on the American Proletariat, this brings down their capacity to express themselves politically. It will take a long time before they are out on the streets again and active in the movement which represents their interests.

I heard it was an "inter ethnic thing" between Bosniaks ( Bosnian Muslims ) and Arabs.
Is that true?

In Sweden?

Sounds like some ultra-right wing spin to me

Some Highschool drama makes the news... why?

Some Highschool drama makes the news... why?

no offence but i really hate this miserablist 'wah wah why is this news wah wah'.

firstly this is a swedish website and this is something that happened in sweden, it's not like this is the top story on al jazeera and the bbc or something.

secondly it was a bit more than 'high school drama'. lol.

thirdly cheer up, it's a story about high school students going on an impromptu riot. do you think we should only hear sombre tales about people dying?

Some Highschool drama makes the news... why?
Because for once Highschool Drama caused people to kick down lamp posts and snow-ball attack police?

I heard about the riot on the TV news. It is uplifting to see teenagers respond to sexist bullying although I was a worried about the report that the protesters wanted to get into the high school to get to the 17 year old girl who had the Instagram account. A protest about bullying and sexism should not turn into a lynch mob.

Yeah, but this is less along political lines and more to satisfy emotional impulses or address dissatisfaction. But the internet is beginning to invade reality more and more each day. Who knows what shall come of this.

One is overtly and consciously political, the other is not.

One is overtly political, the other is not.

Cute attempt to separate 'politics' out as a distinct category of activity, bro...

I don't want to be a buzz kill or anything but maybe the Swedes just have weak ass lamp posts. Also why is this in non political?

all lamposts in the civilized world (so probably not in the US) are designed to break easily a few inches of the ground to minimize fatal car accidents..

Right? I remember last year hella people got mad in my city when people started doing something similar to this on twitter, trying to get "Hoes of X(city I live)" trending on twitter. You'd basically tweet someones name with that hashtag and people got pissed when their girlfriends and boyfriends were getting put out there like that and then nude photos of high schoolers(13-18) started going around because of it. No fucking riots though. Disappointed...
