My name is Thelonious and I live in the beautiful city of Newark, NJ. I am a bridge painter and have been a member of a labor union for 16 years. I was born in Havana, Cuba in 1973. I arrived in the United States of America in 1980 after my father was released from prison in Cuba. I travel to Cuba at least once a year to visit 3 of my siblings and my mother who stayed. It amazes me how the media in this country brainwash average Americans into thinking that Cuba is full of suffering and oppressed people. Well....I don't want to ramble, I just wanted to introduce myself!

Welcome to the forum.

How do you visit Cuba if Americans can't go there due to the embargo and whatnot? Do you have another passport?

Welcome to the forum.

A person purchases a round trip ticket to Mexico City and then when he/she arrives there he/she purchases a ticket to Jose Marti International in Havana. When he/she reaches Havana, Cuban immigration will attach a visitor's visa to the passport with a paperclip. When he/she leaves they simply take the paperwork back. The US government is well aware that this happens. Thousands or Americans visit each year in this way. There are ways for Americans to visit legally; certain journalists, trips sponsored by educational institutions, etc.

The Cuban government is very welcoming of American tourists.
