Putting the 'Party' into 'Annual Party Congress'?

Has anyone ever attended an actual party congress?
What was it like?
Was it as dull as I imagine or do interesting things happen?
(I know 'Interesting' is a point of view, like Evil and Truth, I mean interesting in the fun / engaging sense rather than an academic / theoretical sense).

Those of ours I've been to, have been extremely interesting. I've attended twice so far, once as a guest and once as a delegate. There were plenty of interesting reports, and also debates and discussion amongst the members and with invited guests etc.

These discussions were not at all solely 'theoretical' but rather focused on practical issues and current events, as our meetings always are. So in general attending to our congresses has been a very positive experience for me.
