Does a materialist outlook entail just ignoring the topic until ET fucks your daughter, or are we allowed to consider interplanetary class relations (the opressor has a dyson sphere and won't share his resources, ergo he's a galactic parasite, Who said that Zork has incontestable rights to the Taulos system?

His name was Homero Frasnelli, but his pen name was Juan Posadas.

How batshit was this guy? And did he really try to get his followers to coup Cuba (i find the idea of pseudotrotskyists fighting with sugar cane plantation owners to be hilarious)

He was apparently quite batshit. I haven't made a clinical study but off-the-cuff Sr. Frasnelli seemed to be a person in need of therapy and meds.

He went a bit deranged after prison and torture.
The subject of aliens comes up every couple of months, ACT; just search the forums for aliens or space exploration (most threads will be in Sci & Tech, some in Theory I guess) and you'll find plenty - hell I've contributed to more than a few myself, I think the last (on space exploration) was about 2 months ago.
Just so you know, my take is that any species that's technologically-developed enough to crack the problems of inter-stellar travel is also likely to be peaceful, as I suspect warlike species are too busy fighting themselves to leave their solar-system. I don't have a heap of comparisons to go on, but the data I've managed to collect so far pretty much bears out the theory.

Well i'd think that war crazed societies (referred to here as "space nazis") would invest so much in military development that they'd get to space sooner if they can somehow avoided killing themselves in the process

That is a big "if", isn't it?
I have doubts about that premise anyway. It results from earth-centric ideology.

I think the only thing we can say with any certainty about potential intelligent aliens is that they will have evolved naturally or if created, their creators or their creators' creators or whatever would have naturally evolved.

We can also say that if they reach us before we reach them that means they are more technologically advanced than are we.;)

Not necessarily. I mean, they might have interstellar overdrive, but have they go non-stick woks and Justin Beiber and Slushies? Maybe not. I mean look at those aliens in that documentary, errrm, Mars Attacks I think it was called, they could suck up nuclear explosions but Andy Williams made their heads explode. Just sayin'.

Anything is indeed possible. Perhaps I ought to have expressed the proposition in terms of probabilities.
Now that Andy Williams is dead, if all copies of his singing were lost would we earthlings be fucked if the Mars Attacks dudes returned?

Undoubtedly.
Stockpile and archive the work of Andy Williams, until such time as we find out the Mars Attacks dudes have invented earplugs.
