god fucking dammit. it's been throbbing for like 3 days.
My dentist isn't open until Monday. Any advice for the meantime? I've been taking tylenol, which helps.

Crush up a bunch of aspirin and rub it in where the pain hurts.

Tooth abscesses can lead to infections that can be fatal. I would get it treated even if that means going to a hospital ER on a Sunday.

No health insurance, and I had to work a double-shift today anyways, so I'll have to take my chances with seņor muerte until Monday or possibly Tuesday. I just hope my dentist can see me on such short notice.
If I start to get chills/feverish I have a stash of penicillin I can bust open. I don't have any aspirin, but I've got some tylenol. And I'm going to try GourmetPez's idea of some whiskey and a spliff after I run tonight ... mmm

Be careful.
I had quite a bad abscess.
The doc told me if I hadn't gone to see him and had the tooth removed, it would have traveled up to my brain and killed me.
If your face or gums swell significantly, you had better get to a doctor.

you need infection specific antibiotics :(

Are you still alive? (Hopefully some aspirin will do the trick as someone mentioned above, if not... ice pack as a last resort)

NSAID's are better for this as they relieve swelling and reduce pressure against the nerve. Ibuprofin works, if you can get the strong version. Or Advil.

I hope you get treatment soon. Tooth abscesses won't just go anyway. The infection will escalate and spread.

As others have said you need to get that taken care of right away.Abscessed teeth are no small matter and can easily kill you if left untreated for too long. If it is a matter of money to get it treated start begging around to whoever you think might lend you some; sacrificing a little pride is better than loosing your life.
In the meantime, until you are able to see your dentist, who should proscribe you an anti-bacteria drug prior to having it removed surgically, I would recommend Advil. When I had my abscessed tooth I had to take almost 20 (if not more) Advil daily just to keep the agonizing pain away. While everyone is different, and you should be careful, my general rule is that if the pain persists, take more painkillers (in moments like this the warning labels on the back become secondary).
Get it checked out as soon as possible. Even when you see the dentist remember it is, I believe, mandatory that the infection must first be quelled with medication prior to removal, so it will be some days, with me it was a week, before the oral surgeon can get you in.

I talked to my dentist, he's going to get me in tomorrow and we'll go from there. Thanks, everyone, for your advice.
