I'm looking for a good sources (or anything really) on US imperialism in Europe in 1947, so something that talks about the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan in terms of the US looking to secure export markets, competition with the USSR and all that imperialist stuff. Any help?

My knowledge of the historiography on this period is woefully poor. :(

There's an article on the ICC's site about 'History of US foreign policy since WWII' - http://en.internationalism.org/ir/113_us_policy.html - that might have some stuff in it, though obviously the focus is wider than solely 1947.

A very popular book which covers quite a bit. There are a few chapters available for free.

I would suggest studying the Berlin Blockade, the first "conflict" of the Cold War and one which is commonly portrayed as Soviet aggression when in reality it was a result of build up on both sides.

As for the Truman doctrine, the specifics of this lie in Greece/Turkey, but the impact goes much further, obviously. It is commonly considered the start of the Cold War because it implicitly divides the world into two spheres of influence and asserts US intentions to expand its sphere through economic (and of course later military) assistance.

I don't really know of sources to offer but I know quite a bit about these topics and can provide you with info or answers to questions.
