for e.g. when i expressed my undying love for fleetwood mac some guy asked me if they were a "guilty pleasure" -- i pointed to the countless noise artists (seriously!) who have pointed to the 'tusk' album as an influence, people like ariel pink and animal collective who have spent a career ripping them off, and the general acceptance amongst wanky critics that 'rumours' mac were an incredible band.

so yeah, i think fleetwood mac exemplify this -- completely populist, perhaps crap in many ways, but also so amazing. i put it down to the mountains of coke personally.
