I remember a long time ago someone around here someone was asking if Spanish Civil War re-enactors existed. They do, it seems.

Pretty good uniforms really. Not so sure about the checked shirt however.!.Leather jackets were very popular among officers at times too.

Would be really nice to see some CNT/FAI militia as reenactors in the Mono.

Those guys are re-enacting as an International Brigade. See the the flag in the first photo? the Tricolor with the Tricontinental? That's the flag of the International Brigades.

And judging for the berets and the helmets, I would say that they are re-enacting somre french batallion, so my bet is in the XIV International Brigade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XIV_International_Brigade).

The International Brigades must be held in pretty high opinion in Spain, you see a lot of flags on apartment balconies.

They are, but also is one of the two Tricolors (the other one being GRAPO's) which some sectors the Spanish left, mainly independentist, can be confortable with. For example, the last football world cup and euro cup several of my andalusian independentist friends hanged in their banconies an andalusian independentist flag and an International Brigades flag in oposition to the way too many spanish flags.

Did the POUM militia have its own flag?

Update; Found a candidate. Red Flag with white hammer and sickle and white lettering POUM and Caserna Lenin/Lenin Barracks.
