This is weird. A French tourist being attacked by Aussies?! I thought the French were respected wherever they went because of their class and intellectual superiority.

i dont think this took place because they were french, rather because some people react badly to anything that seems foreign.

As a part-time resident (I move back and forth between Australia and my house for personal reasons), people there often ignore just how discriminatory their society is.
The worst shit is the fucking hatred of aboriginal Australians and homosexuals that most European Aussies act out all the time. Repulsive slang like 'faggot', 'abbo', 'coon', 'paint-sniffer' and 'nunga' are used so often that they've wormed themselves into daily conversations, like a tumor.
One of my teachers in high-school made a joke about aboriginals being drunk rapists. Guess I'm anti-proletarian for getting the fucker fired.

:) You're fighting the good fight.
I think racism is underplayed in a lot of the English speaking countries. We try to hide our generally racist tendencies because of our history with racist policies, especially America.
